The final report from a three year study investigate
languages learning in Key Stage 2 has been published.
The study, conducted by the Open University, University of
Southampton and Canterbury Christ Church University, was
commissioned by the DCSF to examine provision, practice and
developments in Key Stage 2 languages learning from 2006-2009.
Alongside a literature review of evidence relating to the
impact of teaching languages in primary schools, the research also
included an investigation into the nature and quality of provision
in 40 case study schools already teaching languages.
